Should you start a business or continue with your career?

So, you have been in your job for many, many years. The fact that you do not like what you do is an understatement. You literally hate your job and anything has to do with it. You have always wanted to start your own business and you were thinking that there is no better time to make your dream come true. However, you are afraid of making the wrong choice. The fact that you are questioning this decision is a good thing. It is difficult if not impossible to choose between starting a business and continuing with your career.

Should you start a business or continue with your career

Do you have what it takes to start a business?

Maybe you have got an idea that you are really passionate about and would like to pursue it. Let us say that you are good in the kitchen and you want to launch your own restaurant. In order to make it as a restaurant owner, you have to have adequate hygiene facilities. More precisely, you have to comply with the regulations that are specific to your sector. We are not talking about the kitchen, but about the washroom and toilet facilities. Electric hand dryers are the most hygienic solutions, preventing infections. As a business owns, you are required to work independently. Are you able to do that? Nobody will help you complete the tasks, so you will be spending many hours on your own. How does that sound?

You chose your career for a reason

There are aspects of your job that you do not like and it is understandable. We do not live in a perfect world and that is a good thing. If we did not have the good things, we would not be able to appreciate the bad ones. You chose this career for a reason and it would be a shame to give it all up now. A great many entrepreneurs start businesses and fail to attract investors or even clients. Do you really want to embark in this kind of venture? Chances are that you do not. You should not quit your job. There is nothing more important than your career. Having a career gives you a sense of purpose. It is not just a means to save money. If you do not like your current job, then quit and find another one. There is a difference between a job and a career. A career is something that you look forward to and that provides you satisfaction. Keep that in mind.

The bottom line

No matter what you choose to do, it is fine. It is your life and you choose how to live it. If you have what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur, then, by all means, get into business. So what if many have failed? Maybe you will be the exception to the rule. On the other hand, if you are not sure that becoming a businessperson is the right thing for you, focus on your career. Determine your job satisfaction. Maybe it is time to make a change. You need to make a decision and you need to make it quickly.
